Job Description

Central Staff attorney position available for a motivated law graduate interested in learning the inner workings of the appellate court system. This professional and highly responsible position requires exceptional legal research and writing skills. Equally important are knowledge of statutory and case law, court rules and procedures, electronic research capability, and the ability to identify legal issues and communicate orally and in writing. Graduation from an accredited law school and Florida Bar membership (or intent to take the Florida Bar exam) are also required, as well as superior academic credentials.

Under the supervision of the Director of Central Staff, Central Staff attorneys work closely with the Clerk’s Office reviewing incoming cases on various levels, and in reviewing and proofreading orders and documents.  The Central Staff attorneys also assist various judges as needed with processing cases: analyzing legal issues, summarizing legal arguments and drafting legal memoranda. 

Education and Training Guidelines

*Position classification and beginning salary will be based on experience.

District Court Career Attorney $84,070.08 annually

District Court Senior Staff Attorney $74,738.04 annually

District Court Staff Attorney $65,904.00 annually

Some remote work may be available.

The position is subject to a successful completion of a background investigation.
